Concept:
“Exploring the dynamic triad nature – human being – machine, Ana + Betânia arrived at the image of a decrepit machine gun with already-oxidised inscriptions, like war wounds. This weapon intends to symbolise domination through force. It is the declining side of the progress of the machine: it serves technological and economic development to the detriment of human evolution. Associated to this weapon is a portion of verdant soil with moss, small fungi and wild flowers – a living body. The base form of this body has the configuration of a torrent of fire and smoke. The relation between these two elements culminates in the weapon’s final explosion: a seed of life, nature’s counter-attack.”
